Wakeboarding and How It’s Done

According to DirectTVBeatscable.com, there are plenty of ESPN channels out there and one, in particular, that has been making some major waves is something called Surf. As you might imagine, Surf is a channel all about the sport of surfing and one activity in particular, which doesn’t always get lumped in with surfing, is wakeboarding.

Wakeboarding is a water sport here a person is towed, usually by a motorboat, while riding a wakeboard – a significantly smaller version of a surf board. It’s called wakeboarding, though, because the rider is meant to flip and react to the wake left by the vehicle towing them.

Unlike surfing, more of an emphasis on style and flair is placed on wakeboarding – think of it like skateboarding but on the waves. One of the more exciting aspects of wakeboarding is the notion that it’s never really the same experience twice.

Depending on the weather, the size of the wakes, the speed of the boat and the weight of the board, different maneuvers can be executed and the outcome is almost always luck with a little skill. It’s really difficult to explain and one of the best ways you can get to know wakeboarding is by simply getting out there and doing it.
